SINAMICS BRAKING RESISTOR INPUT: 600 V DC OUTPUT: 125kW/15S 100KW/20S 4,4 OHM Braking resistor SINAMICS braking resistor for the PM 240 Power Module of the SINAMICS G120 modular frequency converter. The excess energy of the DC link is dissipated via the braking resistor. The braking resistors are intended for use with the PM240 and PM240-2 (400-V variants) Power Modules, which have an integrated braking chopper and cannot feed regenerated energy back into the supply system. A plug-in Braking Module is optionally available for frame size FSGX. For generative operation, e.g. braking a rotating mass with a large moment of inertia, a braking resistor must be connected that converts the resulting energy to heat. The braking resistors can be mounted to the side of the PM240 and PM240-2 Power Modules. However, for the PM240 Power Module in frame sizes FSD to FSGX, they should be positioned outside the cabinet or outside the switchgear room to dissipate the resulting heat loss away from the Power Module, which reduces the air-conditioning costs. Each braking resistor also has a temperature switch (UL-listed). The temperature switch should be evaluated to avoid consequential damage in case of thermal overload of the braking resistor. The braking resistor is available for frame size FSF and in a three-phase voltage range of 380 V to 480 V. For the frame size FSGX, a Braking Module must be ordered additionally for connection.
