This connector electrically connects a 3.0 mm² to 4.0 mm² wire (tap) end to a through (run) wire and insulates the connection. A live spring joint is made by driving the U contact down into the connector. As the U contact is pressed into the connector, it grasps the conductors as it displaces insulation.
