SCALANCE X accessory; Media module MM992-4; 4x 1000 Mbit/s SC-ports, optical; multimode optical up to max. 750 m. Fully modular Layer 3 switches can be flexibly fitted with 4-port media modules. Using media modules enables: � Extending the network by plugging additional media modules into unused slots at a later time (also during operation), � Extending the network by plugging additional SFP+ or SFP plug-in transceivers into unused SFP+ slots at a later time, � Changing cabling technology, e.g. conversion from copper to fiber-optic cables or from multi-mode to single-mode FOC, � Changing the transfer rate, e.g. switching from SFP plug-in transceiver (1000 Mbps) to SFP+ plug-in transceiver (10 Gbps).Unlimited flexibility during network expansions (e.g. more terminal devices), conversion (e.g. switching from copper to fiber-optic cables), or performance enhancement (e.g. from Gigabit to 10 Gigabit) through modular construction using media modules and SFP+ or SFP plug-in transceivers. Reduction of storage and maintenance costs by focusing on only a few basic unit variants
